The FDA Central Utility Plant is part of a multi-building consolidated campus for the Food and Drug Administration located in Silver Spring, MD. Pierce Associates previously served as the mechanical contractor for the 2008 upgrades to the CUP, including two new gas turbine generators. In 2009, Pierce Associates was awarded the mechanical and general trades scopes of work for the FDA CUP Generator 6 Project.
The scope of work for this project includes the mechanical piping associated with the installation of the new gas turbine generator (G6). The scope also includes all of the sheetmetal work required for the intake and exhaust ductwork at the gas turbine generator. In addition to performing the mechanical scope of work, Pierce Associates also served as the prime contractor for the Turbine Generator 6 Project. As the Prime Contractor, PAI was responsible for all sitework, site utilities, concrete, structural steel and rigging. The electrical scope of work was performed outside of PAI’s subcontract agreement.
